Community:
Ontario County Highway Department maintains 239 miles of paved roads throughout all 16 of its towns. Other duties the Ontario County Highway Department performs include: inspection and maintenance of bridges; snow plowing, removal and de-icing; striping and repaving of road surfaces; and mowing roadsides.

Stormwater Management Activities: 

• Ontario County Department of Public Works maintains a website detailing their MS4 activities: www.co.ontario.ny.us/public_works/StormWater.html#.
• Stormwater Management Program Coordinator has made MS4 presentations to municipal boards.
• Ontario County Highway Department has mapped all of its storm drain outfalls.
• Highway Department reviews all Notices of Intent and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans in accordance with Stormwater Phase II regulations.
• Highway Department has four licensed engineers, four junior engineers, and two road and bridge maintenance supervisors who all perform construction site and post construction inspections to ensure that contractors, builders, and developers are following proper procedures.
• Highway Department regularly attends training sessions provided by the Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition or at New York State training events to ensure they are current with Stormwater Phase II regulations.
